UGLY $2 DRESS

See? Ugly!!! I call this style of dress, or jumper, a school teacher dress. I've seen way to many school teachers wearing this kind of frumpy, neuter thing. Why in the heck did I, with all my stylish awesomeness, buy this thing? See that skirt? See all that light weight denim? I have a seam ripper, a bottle of dye, a pair of shears and a vintage 1970's pattern, that's why

and now it's cuter than kittens in a basket!

Before you get all excited, it's about 4 sizes to small for me. It's a size 12 for a 34" bust, and, well, lets not go there.

I used the view in front, but didn't add lace and used the left over print fabric for the bow. I guess I "upcycled".  If you can't seem to find fabric, sheets or anything else to turn into clothes at second hand stores, why not check out the ready made stuff? Remember this blouse I made out of a long skirt?

Think outside the box and have fun. Even if the halter top turned into a hot mess, the fabric only cost $2. Even with the cost of a bottle of dye, it was cheaper than buying denim.

Now for some more news: I'm going to be taking a break from blogging and facebook for a couple of weeks. No major life events or anything dramatic, just a short break. I may be able to do a few Weird Doll  Wednesday posts, but don't worry if I don't. I just means that I don't have my laptop and I don't like using other computers. I see you all in a couple of weeks.

Love the dress. Hmmm, I do have a pattern for a flamenco dress.

Love their fingers! And the detail on his jacket.

LAST FRIDAY I GOT NEW GLASSES

Before I show them to you, let's see the last 20 or so years of frames.  I checked out on-line frame stores and liked some of them. But the new frames I got at my eye doctor's ended up only costing $36! I tried on a lot and don't care about "designer frames" (or I would have bought the Prada ones!) I buy frames that look good on my face. To hell with what's trendy.

Damn, it looks like I'm some kind of fashionista label whore!

First up: Jean Paul Gaultier frames I got in California about 20 years ago. Yeah, they were $$$ but I wore them everyday for almost 10 years.

Pair #2: The frames are red and they are very light weight. The nose bridge thingy started to get really lose, which made them slip down my face all the time. It's too bad, because I love round frames. For some reason they're really hard to find.

#3 the pair I've been wearing for the past 4 years.

#4 the new pair

on my face

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 111

After last weeks "Fur Twins" (yes, their  eyes close) I thought about a pretty, sweet doll post. Nah,  lets go back to Creepytown!!!

Say Hi to Brother and Sister Amish.

Remember the movie Witness? It was set in Pennsylvania Amish country. All I know about the Amish is they live on farms, ride around in horse drawn buggys and for some odd reason are the stars of 2 reality tv shows. Breaking Amish and The Amish Mafia, I kid you not. Not being a fan of reality tv, I've only seen the ads. Breaking Amish looks like Amish kids gone wild and the other one, the title pretty much says it all.  The dolls look like they've had way too much electro shock therapy.

I'm getting new glasses on Friday. So a lot of posing is going to be happening around here.  See ya then!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 110

The Olsen Twins new line? Freaked out yet?

I am!!!!!!!!!

Fur, real fur, plastic hair and felt. No clue as to what's going on with these two. They want to be your friends.

NATURE WALK IN SOUTH GEORGIA

On Saturday morning the weather was so nice (low humidity) we decided it would be fun to go on a hike.  We went to Reed Bingham State Park, which is about an hour north in Adel, Georgia

"Do these walking sticks make me look fat" I couldn't help myself.  Note the old school flip phone. He's so retro.

Your "brave" blogger posting a selfie without make-up! Stop the presses! Alright, get over it, it's a hike and it's hot. I'm wearing a hat I made years ago and an Audrey Hepburn t-shirt I got at the by the pound store for probably a quarter.

South Georgia is pretty much a swamp. The park has a lot of trails that go through the swampy parts.

The swampy part. The water is pretty low this summer, otherwise it would be around waist high.

So, in order to use the trails in the summer, there are a lot of boardwalks. The boardwalks make it so 100% of the park can be used. I don't know about you, but I'm not slogging through waist deep swamp water.

Not sure but I think these are honeysuckle and hibiscus

Weird fungus growing on some trees.

A thick forest canopy of 5-6 different kinds of tress.

The Little River which runs through the park

The Doctor standing on a boat ramp. The river is used for kayaking, fishing and general boating.

We ran into some wild life. A pretty butterfly

and a spider in the sky. No gators, which is a good thing.

A pond with lily pads (and no gators)

 Creepy looking dead tree.

Palmetto palms. If you've ever eaten hearts of palm, you ate the roots of this plant.

It was nice to be able to get out into nature. Later on Saturday evening, the humidity came back and the heat index went up to 102! At 8:30pm! Yeah, to living in a swamp!

MY CAMERA HAS A FISH EYE LENS

Guess I should fiddle with my camera more often, as I had no idea this could happen......

What a cutie! I look like I have an impacted wisdom tooth

Yes, Mr. Scooty, this picture makes you look fat.

                                        Much better!

 Poor broken armadillo!

                        Say "Hi" to Lula Bell.

Let's go outside!!!!

Oak leave hydrangea and a blue bottle tree.

                                     Spooky, indeed

                                     Giant mosquito

Thank goodness the swelling's gone down........

and moved to my nose.

In 2 week, I'm getting a new pair of frames. Yeah, me.
