My choice was to go with layers. Long sleeve plain t-shirt under short sleeve t-shirt.

Yeah, a bathroom selfie. No way was I going outside during a hale storm, the light was crap in the rest of the house.
Short sleeve t: roca wear from TJMaxx. Long sleeve one: Jones New York $15 at Dillards.

The summer mode for the short sleeve one.

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 83

Last Wednesday, taxonomyofmywardrobe.blogspot.com had a sweet shout out to weird doll Wednesday.  She had a lovely post about Raggedy Ann and Andy.  Check it out.

There's a homemade, knitted version of Raggedy Ann. Can't remember where I found her. When I find weird dolls I leave them as found. I don't fix the messed up clothes or clean them up. Somehow the more pitiful they look, the more loveable they are... at least to me.

Here in South Georgia, it's icy cold and raining this morning. We were spared the Nightmare on Peach Tree Street, AKA Atlanta. What a nightmare that is! I have friends that were stuck on the interstate for HOURS!!!!!!!!!! One is 8-months pregnant(she got home fine) The schools down here closed yesterday, no snow for us. And work today, as the university is closed until tomorrow.  Which wouldn't be a big deal, if we didn't have a show opening on Friday.

Stay warm and dry!

GREETINGS FORM THE FROZEN NORTH............

I mean "SOUTH"

It's cold again down in South Georgia. In the mid 20's overnight. Stop laughing at me, People of Canada and Northern Europe. We are not used to cold here, heck, next week it'll probably be in the 70's.

Here's what I'm wearing indoors.

Blue mohair cardigan, long black dress with a swirl design, tall boots and tights. Everything was thrifted or a gifted (the boots). Heck a lot of things in the photo where second hand: the rug, curtains and jewelry box (behind me) The lamp was from Target, duvet cover was on sale at Anthropology, and the little  chest is from IKEA.

Here's a better shot of my outfit. The swirl design has about 4 different colors so it's easy to wear a matching sweater or jacket. When it's really cold, I tend to only wear earrings. Bracelets and necklaces make me cold, rings are kind of hard to wear with gloves. The poster behind me is from the 90's and it was fun to see the look on the framers face when I took it to get framed. Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.....yeah!!!!!

More second hand in this photo: bookcase, from a lot at an auction, the green shutters (which are hiding a water) second hand store and they were already painted that color.

Speaking of the cold.............

not a big fan. What I'll be wearing the walk the 3 blocks to work. All this is thrifted, too. My $10 Jones New York wool overcoat, white mohair shawl( bought at a stuff a bag for $5 rummage sale) Russian hat (also from a rummage sale) my sister in law gave me the gloves for Christmas years ago.

                      STAY WARM

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 82

Let's pretend it's summer!

How cute is she? I'm loving the little pineapple on her shoulder.

We're having another cold snap and I forgot to cover the outside plants last night. Oops! Maybe they didn't all freeze.

I've been crazy busy this semester (today is only day 7).  We've been working on three shows at once, that all open before the end of the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometime the schedule gets a little out of control. But that's show biz for ya.

All the shows have been cast, the drama ran hot and heavy on Friday. It always does. After we open the scholarship fund raiser ballet, the opera and the children's tour,  we move on to Arcadia and Evita. Arcadia is set in England in 1809 and 2009. And Evita is Argentina 1930-1950. So, I'll be a little busy for the next couple of months. I sort of made a New years resolution to post more outfits, and you can see how well that's going. I wear clothes everyday, it true!

We also met with our realtor about listing our house. The Doctor is retiring at the end of June and we want to move back home, AKA California. That's going to be nerve wrecking. Wish us luck.

Enjoy your day

YOU GOT THAT WHERE?

a continuing feature (whenever I remember)

Burburry and Ralph Lauren for the price of a sandwich? Of course!

It was cold this morning, so The Doctor had to dress accordingly.  Vintage Burburry overcoat $5 at a yard sale, Ralph Lauren sweater By the Pound store maybe 50cents.

The hat is old and so are the gloves. Slacks were bought new at JCPenney's on sale. And the shoes are new.

The woman I bought the coat from told me she'd moved from up North and her husband didn't need the coat anymore because "It doesn't get cold here"  Really? It was 30 this morning. The yard sale was in the summer. Thank you, lady.

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 81

Ragamuffin drama queen?

I took this with my old, found it in the make-up room camera. Which (probably) explains the blurry quality. Or........it's arty.

Back to school happened, so that means it's audition week for the Spring Shows! There will be high drama in the hall on Friday afternoon. Who will be cast as Evita? Stay tuned.

SHARE-IN-STYLE: FAVORITE COLOR

This month's Share-In-Style is Favorite Color. You can link up at: mispapelicos.com

My favorite color is black, and white print. There was a time I pretty much wore only black, white and red. Now I've embraced the color wheel. But I still favor black and white prints. I've awful at mixing and matching patterns (even after 20 years in a costume shop). With black and white I can add whatever color I want, and don't have to wonder if I look like a sick rainbow.

WHEE!!!!!!!!

Even the floors and cat are black and white

Looks great with purple ( my second favorite color)

See what I mean? It's everywhere ( this is a year old photo, I've gone from 6 to 8 dresses)

I think I may finally be over the cold I've had all year. Three cheers!

Went back to work yesterday. We took a field trip to Tallahassee to pick up sewing machines, shop with our student designer and drop some costume pieces at Florida State. We have a trade agreement with them. They wanted some can can skirts and we'll be getting some of the beautiful pieces they have for Evita. It works out great for both costume shops.

PANTONE PARTY, HOT COLORS FOR 2014

What am I talking about? Why Spy Girls 52 Pick up challenge, what else?

Cerulean, Fuchsia Rose,  True Red, Aqua Sky, Tigerlily, Blue Turquoise, Sand Dollar, Chili Pepper, Blue Iris, Mimosa, Turquoise, Honeysuckle, Tangerine Tango, Emerald, Radiant Orchid.

Those are the Hot Colors for 2014! What's the difference between "turquoise" and "turquoise blue"? How the heck do I know?

Rocking turquoise last summer

My "Radiant Orchid" Hanna Anderson clogs from years ago. Yep, that's me, ahead of the trends again.

And it looks like I changed my blog's colors to "Fuchsia Rose" and "Blue Iris"......2 weeks ago. Hey, call me awesome.

I came across an article about the "hot colors in home decor for 2014" the other week. Hold onto your hats: gray, off-white, mustard yellow. Which explains why every home decorating show has been featuring those colors! Why, why, why would you paint your walls gray? It pulls all the color out of your skin and makes you look dead. And whatever happened to sage green? Just think how many people are re-painting their living rooms right now.  I'll stick with periwinkle.

I'm linking up to Spy Girl, you should too!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 80

Here's a dear lady to brighten up the day.

I think I'm pretty much over being sick (for the year) This morning I did some tidy upping in the spare room/office. And I vacuumed.

Polar Vortex, anyone? It got pretty cold here, low 20's and the usually plants that die in a freeze did. I'll be pruning those  back this weekend, when it will be the in mid 70's. Say, WHAT? Crazy ass weather!

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

The last of the Christmas goodies. My bestie , MTW, and I usually exchange gifts at New Years. Because The Doctor had to be at work on Jan 2nd, we mailed them to each other this year.

I got a box of scarves. 7 of them, that came in little brown paper bags, tired with strings

When I'm better, I just might!

I got sick on New Years Eve with a touch of the flu. I'm really happy I didn't have to got back to work yesterday. I have an extra week to get better.
