WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 91

Pretend she's Evita, okay?  It's preview tonight! Show opens tomorrow

Of course, I'll have photos and tell you all about it. If you don't know the story, it's based on the life of Eva Peron who was married to the President of Argentina, Juan Peron. It's set in the late 40's/early 50's.  There's not a lot of spoken dialogue, it's mostly all singing, like an opera. If you interested, I'm sure there's lots of video of productions on you tube. (for some legal reasons I don't understand, we can't post video of our productions on line. We would if we could).

Enjoy your day!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 90

Pip, pip cheerio! Let's have a cuppa! Bangers and mash!

Why I'm I sounding like I've watch way too much Benny Hill?

                                   THIS GUY

The littlest guard in the world. He's in honor of the VSU Concert Choir that is spending their Spring Break in.....wait for it.....England on a concert tour.

My friend Nick (that's him from Arcadia) is on the tour and in the first 4 days they've sang at Manchester Cathedral, Conventy Cathedral and some place I can't remember the name of. I can't wait to get a full report when they get back.

Speaking of Spring Break, I took today off. I worked Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and I'd like to thank the students who came in to help: Tess and Ethan. And Christie Jo who comes in to help even thought she's not getting a grade, but is racking up major brownie points. We're almost done, except for some last minute things. Sunday is the 10 out of 12 tech day. What's that, you ask? It's the day all the tech aspects of a show are run thought and set: lighting cues, sound cues, scene changes, quick changes for costumes, anything that is done during the run of a show get hammered out and fine tuned getting ready for the 1st dress. It's what it sound like: work for 10 hours and get an hour break for lunch and dinner. Sometimes it's shorter, but sometimes it goes on, and on, and on. Awe, show biz!!!

So much for my posting more outfit post. I've been crazy stressed out getting the house ready for market and working on Evita. Last week all the rotten wood was replace and the house was pressure washed. The good news is it didn't cost much, but the real good news is the pressure washing didn't take off much paint and I only had to paint part of the porch! Yeah, to the cost of a gallon of paint and not having to paint a 1900 square foot house. Wish us luck on this adventure.

Itn't tomorrow the first day of Spring?

HAPPY SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 89

I've no idea what country she's from. Any guesses?

One of these days, I'll iron her skirt.

Evita teaser: spent a whole afternoon remaking the skirt of the big white dress. It has 7 layers: petticoat, satin, nylon net and 4 layers of tulle.  It's the Don't Cry For Me Argentina dress.

Stay tuned.......

HOMEMADE VEGGIE BURGERS? YES PLEASE

Besides sewing and making stuff, I cook. On Tuesday I made a batch of homemade vegan veggie burgers

I used this cookbook, and forgot to turn the photo.

Here are the ingredients: cooked brown rice, shredded cabbage and carrots, gram flour, cilantro, ginger, sweet potato, onion, chick peas and spices.

Grind up the rice and chick peas until they look like this.....

Switch over to the shred blade and shred the onion and potato.

Put all the ingredients into a big bowl, add gram flour to hold everything together. You don't want it to sticky or dry.

Weight out 4 oz. and pat into patties.

The recipe makes 8 patties. I like to put them on a foil lined sheet and freeze them. It helps to hold them together when they cook. After freezing for a few hours, I wrap 2 in foil. This makes 4 dinners.

The worst part of cooking? The clean up. What a mess!

I cleaned it all up before I went to work.

The best part of cooking? Served with oven baked french fries.

The real best part of cooking.

The Doctor says "Yum".  Guess Mr. Scooty isn't a vegan!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 88

Rain, rain go away, heck, at least it's not snowing.

Here's a tiny doll. If I'm not mistaken, she's from Breton.

"Hi, I'm tiny" and cross-eyed! The little cross is metal.

That's my hand, she's maybe 3-4 inches tall. Her hat is pretty sweet, maybe she should link herself up to Style Crone's Hat Attack.

3 LINK-UPS IN ONE!!!!!!!!

Because I'm being very lazy. I'm doing a 3-fer.

First up: Share in Style: Music

My favorite Pandora channel is 90's Grunge. So my t-shirt from Lollapalooza #2 seems right.

Second up: 52 Pick-up: Dress like your favorite cocktail. I like beer, so a dark brown dress will do. I promise I haven't been drinking a couple at work.

Third up: Hat Attack. In honor of the retirement/scholarship fund raiser yesterday, here is The Doctor and the head of our local Red Cross   rocking the hats.

The Doctor is also rocking his vintage suit which I got at a charity shop for $2!
