Here it is, plied up neat and tidy. We're so lucky (and happy) that the bricks came down 1-2 at a time. This hitting the roof would have been a true nightmare and would have cost more then $500 to repair. Thank you, homeowner's insurance. The fire place this was attacked to sits between our bedroom and dining room.
Still no season start date for Game of Thrones, expect "Spring 2019". The long wait...……………….
Here's a fan favorite character...………...
Beric Dondarrion, with his flaming sword. Last seen running for his life (with Tormnd) away from the Night King's attack on Eastwatch- the -used-to-be -by - the -Sea. Did they make it to safety? We'll have to wait...…….and wait.
WE DODGED A BULLET We're fine. All we got was the outer eastside of the hurricane. The power flickered off and on around 7pm, but stayed on. The wind gust started about 10pm. That caused the cap on one of the chimneys to blow off and wrap around a smaller chimney. The noise that made was awful, coupled with the bricks blowing unto the roof, rolling down and off to the ground. It sounded like a monster was jumping up and down. Thank goodness it didn't last long. By midnight, it was over. Wanting to live somewhere where the weather isn't trying to kill me isn't asking too much, is it?
Here's Dany from season 3, I think. Oh, Game of Thrones, duh. We're sitting around waiting for yet another hurricane. Shh, don't say "climate change", in the past 10 years there sure have been an up tick in how many are going over my area. The university is closed today and tomorrow all staff and faculty report back to work....who are they kidding? The director of FEMA said Southwest Georgia could have a power outage for 2 or 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, can't sew in the dark. I'll keep you posted when I can.
As of 11:15am est, usa, no wind or rain. We should get the brunt of this in the evening/overnight. Yeah, no sleep of me.
I know it's been awhile since I posted about a show. Our first one this year was called Hands on a Hardbody. The hardbody being a pick-up trunk that a dealership in Texas was giving away to the winner of a contest. The last person standing with their hand on the truck wins. It's based on a true event.
Our talented student cast, a mix of freshmen and upper-classmen. male and female, Black and White.
The men: Terrance D. Searcy (Ronald), Brandon Chandler (Greg), Mark Sheme (Benny), Aaron Thomas Moore (JD), Daniel Lennox, Jr. (Chris), Melvin Galloway (Jesus), James Bohler Rowell, IV(Don, husband to Janis) and Savannah Kern (Virginia, wife of JD)
The women: Diana McCasland (Heather), Taylor Gay (Kelli), Savannah Kennedy (Janis) and Liz Perez (Norma)
Heather my have a leg up on winning. With Jared Watson (Mike) owner of the dealership.
Janis suspects something is rotten in Longview, Texas.
Cindy (Ursula Trassorras) tells Jesus that she'll need to see his "green card" if he wins. But he was "Born in Laredo"
The last 3! Norma, JD and Benny. No spoilers!
Oh, no! The last 2! Norma getting some much needed support from Ronald and Chris. In this photo you can see the casters the truck was on so it could be spun around the stage. And the cover over the bed so the actors could jump on the truck. Yes, it's a really full size pick-up truck. The engine, transmission and gas tank were removed. The tires are real and the headlights work.
Yep, our building has a loading dock, but it's not attached to the scene shop. Getting a full size truck into the building took about 3 hours. The 3 sets of doors had to be removed, the mirrors had to come off and the back bumper was removed. All the scene shop students can now put "auto body work" on their resumes.
After the strike, the truck was given to someone who towed it away for free. They wanted the body.
The photos are from Genny Muncy and Paul Levy.
The last 2 are from Phillip "We'll never get a truck up stairs to the Lab Theatre" Brulotte, our new Technical Director.
Esther Iverson designed the costumes, Noah E. Dalton designed the lighting, Ruth Brandvik designed the set. Jacque Wheeler directed. Oh, did I mention that this show is a musical?
Hands up if you like Hitchcock movies. My favorite one is Vertigo. A Vertigo Barbie would be a broken one? Found this looking around Google Images. Don't know if it's a DIY one or if it was on the market.
WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 311 Here's The Countess from American Horror Story: Hotel. Or as she's know in other realms; Lady Ga Ga.
Ga Ga was pretty good in the role. The next American Horror Story is returning in September, and yes, Jessica Lange is back!
Got an e-mail this morning letting me know how to get notices when comments happen. So Google is watching us, good thing I'm not paranoid! I followed the link and should be seeing comments again. Thanks for stopping by.
WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 308 Viserion: Before...…………………………………………
I think I'll give myself the Laziest Blogger Award. I've been in a funk and haven't been keeping up. Still working at my longtime job(we had great shows this summer) One of these days I'll get back in the groove.
WEIRD DOLLWEDNESDAY, PART 306 When I go thrifting, I always look for interesting dolls. Haven't found any in a while. Last week I had a couple of days off and checked out a store I haven't been to for a long time. Found 3 dolls! Here's the first one:
She's made out of straw and I love the smile on her face.
The label says: Made in Ecuador. Guess somebody when there on vacation.
Can you stand more Game of Thrones? Of course, you can.
A big fan favorite was Oberyn Martell, AKA The Red Viper, and Daddy of The Sand Snakes. He was holding a major grudge against the Mountain for killing his sister. Do to a round about story line, he became the champion for Tyrion. I know, if you don't know the books/TV show, you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Oberyn fights with a (poisoned) spear and lightweight amour. The Mountain fought wearing heavy amour and a big assed sword. To bad, Oberyn got all extra and didn't just finish him off. The Mountain ended up killing Oberyn in the grossest death in the series: popped his head like a melon.
