WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 124

That was a quick week. If you did Thanksgiving, I hope it was a wonderful day.  Did you shop on Black Friday? It looks like this weeks doll is so over that.

She looks like she's brushing back her hair and saying"What ever". Not sure where she's from, maybe Turkey or Bulgaria?

About Black Friday, I stayed home and read a second hand copy of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows. I don't like being told that I should go shopping as my patriotic duty to boost the income of Wal-Mart and other large corporations. I'll shut up now and wish everyone a happy holiday season, what ever holiday you celebrate.

  1. If not a Bulgarian, perhaps an Albanian? The multiple layers of skirts and a bib of coins rings a bell -- probably on a goat. You're right, Thorne, in noting that her expression and hand gestures are not in the usual sweet-dolly-me tradition!

Second hand books figure prominently in my holiday gift giving. Fortunately for my budget and my shopping habits, my family and friends appreciate books to enjoy whilst they, too, retreat from the mall mobs. Easy to wrap and ship, extremely re-giftable/recyclable -- books offer The Great Escape everyone wants.

I wish you a happy holiday season, Thorne, and dare to recommend that you, theatrical and historical costume expert that you are, give some time to the original "Scrooge" starring Sir Seymour Hicks. (I've seen the uncut version offered on YouTube) Enjoy!

  2. Ugh, I wish there was a Thanksgiving 2. One for the following weekend. I loooove me some food. And I don't do Black Friday either. It's just not worth it to me. If you're a thrifter, every day is Black Friday.
