THE SOUND OF MUSIC ACT II

So, at the end of Act I, Maria ran back to the convent after she realized she has "feelings" for The Capt.  Gretl and Marta are sad.

Dad and Uncle Max try to cheer the kids up, because , hey, Dad and Elsa are getting married. So, then The Capt, Elsa and Max sing a song called "No Way To Stop It". They basically try to tell The Capt to relax, go with the flow, it'll be over soon, "The Germans" aren't that bad, etc.  Boom, they break up! Another beautiful vintage dress.

 Maria comes back! Happy children!

"Of course, I'll marry you!" Kisses! "I love you more than whiskers on kittens and rainbows on roses!"

Beautiful wedding gown from the back.

And the front. The Boss made this for Member Of The Wedding years ago, so it's not vintage. We decided to not use the vintage 1930's gown, which is even more beautiful, because it was really hard to get it on and off the actor.  It wasn't worth it to have it rip.

THE WEDDING

Guess Elsa and Max where wrong. The new guys in town want to talk to The Capt.

 They're back!

"The German navy wants you.........today!" But wait, Max entered the von Trapp Family Singers in a talent show. Which seemed to be a good reason to allow The Capt to leave the next day.

Rolf comes by and really pisses Liesl off. They're both so shocked about the servant.

So they perform at the show. Dad sings "Edelweiss"

The whole family sings. But wait, it's a trap! The bad guys are waiting in the wings to make sure The Capt comes with them after the show!

The winner are announced: 3rd place! Trio of Saengerbund!

2nd place: Frau Schweiger! She should make friends with the von Trapps stat!

1st place: The von Trapps!

The family makes a break for it. They hide out in the backyard of the convent

OH, NO!  It's Rolf! He find Liesl and finds it in he's heart not to turn the family in!

The family really do climb every mountain, ford every stream all the way to Stowe Vermont where there still is a von Trapp resort! Yeah, Happy Ending!!!

All the photos where taken by our awesome lighting designer Genny Wynn. Hope you enjoyed the show! There's 2 more shows to go!

SOUND OF MUSIC ACT I, The second part

Let's recap: in the first part of act I, Maria gets sent to the von Trapp house to watch the kiddies. The next day, the Capt  bails on her and goes to Vienna. He comes back a while latter with these too:

Elsa Schraeder and "uncle" Max Detweller. Who are these people? Besides looking drop dead awesome in vintage,  Elsa seems to be a gold digger looking for a new rich husband and Max, we never do find out who's uncle he is

Vintage dress porn: this dress is so amazing. There's no side seams, the front is draped up over the hips and the seam is in the back. The back panel were the zipper is, is a long U shape that curves around the butt. Very nice.

Rolf has a new uniform. It was strange to me that the word "Nazi" is never said during the play. My friend with the embroidery machine made  the patches for the uniforms.  I spend a day sewing them on the uniforms and felt dirty afterwards. The show is set in 1938 and the family did escape,  so it they have to be there.

Remember those curtains?   Liesl's might fit you, Sarah Misfit.  Our designer, aka The Boss, made these costumes when she was in collage, in 1980! The collage still had them and the curtains in a box with The Boss's handwritten label on it.  Because of the nature of the production time ( 6 weeks to stage 3 musicals) a lot of the costumes are rented or borrowed. The sailor suits, curtain costumes, wedding clothes and their show costumes are all borrowed. Maria's dress was made by this summer wardrobe head, Dan.

Elsa told The Capt to throw a party, so he did. You might remember Ethan from Pippen, he was wearing pumpkin breaches.  Jessica is wearing more vintage porn; a beautiful evening gown that fit her like me made it for her.

Party guests. I made the red gown in 2003 from a re-issued Vogue pattern, the melon gown is vintage, who know that color was around then? The pale one in the front is also vintage.

I think their both hinkie, but the dress is amazing. It's not vintage and I can't remember were we got it from. Notice the "wallpaper"?  It's edelweiss.

Hey, kids another song please. So Long, Farewell, now go to bed! The gray dress Louisa is wearing s vintage but  I made the blue one Liesl is wearing about 15 years ago, don't remember for what show.

Again, they leave Gretl all alone, mid- stage too sing by herself.  She's 6, at that age I would have wet myself and started crying with fear. I did have a dress like this one when I was that age.

Where you going, girl? Maria freaks out while dancing the Laendler with The Capt.  They look into each other's eyes and it's instant love. So she packs her tote bag,  grabs her guitar and runs back to the convent. She doesn't tell anybody.

Were the Mother Abbess and Sister Sophia are welcoming a new postulant. Check out that yellow suitcase!  The Abbess give Maria a talking to and pretty much blesses her out about leaving the von Trapp house. And tells her that you've got to climb every mountain, ford every stream (watch it on youtube) end of ACT I. ACT II is shorter, so that will all be in one post, probably tomorrow.

Who watched the Tony's on Sunday? This girl. My peeps did an amazing job, it's always better than the Oscars. If you did watch, how in the heck did Cinderella do that costume change, right in front of our eyes? I'll be tracking THAT video down and studying it.

  THE SOUND OF MUSIC

As promised, photos from The Sound Of Music, the first part of ACT I. Because there's so many photos, I'm splitting the posts into three. Enjoy the show!

The opening with the nuns. We made about half of the costumes.

Maria, hanging out on the mountain.

 She twirls.........

....and twirls...................

                           and twirls some more...............

They have a problem, it's Maria! Oh, no! What are they going to do?

Send her to Capt. von Trapp as a nanny. He has 7 brats, I mean, lovely kids

She arrives! In a butt ugly dress

Meet the kids: Gretl, Marta, Kurt, Louisa, Friedrich and Liesl. Where's Brigitta?

There she is! Maria with the three youngest ( kids and cast members) Gretl age 6, Marta age 7 and Brigitta age 10. See what I mean about the ugly dress? This is right before they break into Do-Re-Mi, I wish I could post video for the show, but rules are rules. These little girls rock it and don't miss a cue.

Liesl and Rolf. She's 16 going on 17. Her dress was in a donation from last year and we know it was perfect for this show.

                                                                  Awe!

                                                      Happy girl

Maria and Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper

                                        "You're getting new curtains"

"Can't let this beautiful fabric go to waste! Re-use, re-recycle!"

The kids get afraid during a storm. Hey, it's the perfect time for a song!

Let's put on a show! The Lonely Goat herder

The kids all sneak back to bed, leaving Gretl on stage, all by her self.

Next post will be the second half of ACT I. Stay tuned!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 49

SCOTLAND. Is this Amy Pond?

 SO THIS HAPPENED ON WEDNESDAY

The Menopausal Supermodel herself picked me. Thanks! Here are my answers to the questions she asked (yeah, with the questions, too)

1: Gold or silver?  Both, but my silver is always tarnished. I'm too lazy to clean it.

2: What is your favorite candy? Duh, candy. If I have to pick one, it's plan M&M's.

3: Best book you've read recently? Phantom by Jo Nesbo. I like all he's books. Makes we want to go to Oslo, not.

4: Pet Peeve: people who can't follow simple traffic rule, and when they get tickets act like the world is ending. No parking means YOU!

5: What is your favorite season of the year? Summer, because it's light out for so long. Not too fond of the heat and humidity though.

6: What's your favorite color? Purple

7: Your life is going to become a movie. Who would play you? What? It's not already? Kate Winslet or Helen Mirren, go for the best.

8: You get to become a villain from a Disney movie for a day. which villain are you? Hmm, not a big Disney fan.  The one from Snow White, Malificant?

9: If any character from a novel could be your best friend , who would you want it to be? I have no idea. I've been thinking about this question for a couple of days, I just don't know.

10: What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner? Do you make it or get ti from a restaurant? Oh, that's an easy one, Mac and cheese. I make it myself, but not very often. I could eat the whole pan.

11: It's your birthday, what for dessert? Chocolate raspberry cake.

That was fun. Now I have to pick some blogs that have under 300 followers and ask them 11 questions. Here's who I've picked: 5 amazing people that are from all over the world and have very different lives, which is why I like being a blogger. You get to meet the most interesting people!

First up : Lynn from Dylan's Dress

Second up: Ulla-Marie from Dude Looks Like A Lady

Third up: Catherine from Commard von Pussycat

Fourth up: Sara from Robust Rabble-Rouser     And last but not least: Peete's mom  Krista from Peete's Palace.

And my question are:

1 Paper or plastic? Do you recycle?

2 If you could spend a week as the opposite sex, would you?

3 There's a knock on your door, you've won a dream vacation, you have to leave RIGHT NOW. Where would you go?

4 Awe, The Arts! What's the last/best play you've seen? Why?

5 Do you believe in ghosts?  Discuss or not.

6 Left or right handed?

7 If you have pierced ears, how old were you when you got them done?

8 Tattoos?

9 If The Evil Overlords  take over and gave you the choice of living in all white rooms or only wearing all black clothes forever, which one would you pick?

10 Name three bands or singer you can't live without

11 and the last one........why did you start a blog?

Now I'll be letting the Five Winner (haha) know I picked them.
