 RAINY DAY BARGAIN HUNTING
Got these books at the library book sale.  The one on the left is a paper flower craftbook from the 60's, a 70's party book, both were $1. The architecture book is also from the 60's and was $5.

Do you like my hat? It's Persian lamb and was made in Lithuania. $4. I can wear it next winter.
Vintage Barbara Lee purse and terra cotta plate, $2 a piece

A Milton Saunders Original, $2!
I got all the above at Bargainza, which a a fund raiser of the Symphony Guild. Yep, my little town has a symphony.

Maybe tomorrow will but sunny, too many rainy days bums me out.

 BATTERIES DIED, THEN RAIN

Right after this photo, the batteries died, I was going to take some more photos when I got home, but it's been pouring down rain since 2pm. That's one of my new dresses along the the most awesome purse
It's funny, when I was visiting my best friend over New Years break, I said to her "You know, I've always wanted one of those hand-tooled Mexican purses" Look what she found at the Goodwill on her way home from work.

It still has the original label and is in pretty much near perfect condition.

This old note paper was inside. I do believe the Seattle Hyatt House has a sign on the side saying you can fish from your room. Somewhere I have of photo of it.
Yeah, it's the weekend!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 34

I've had this lady forever, can't even remember where I got her. It surprises me that the pot on her head hasn't broken. The embroidery is amazing. Her face is painted clay and her shoes are wood.

PATCHWORK'S NOT JUST FOR FABRIC

Over the weekend the crafty Vix had a post showing all her lovely patchwork project. So I'd thought I'd post one of mine. I learned of knit about 10 years ago and got bored with garter/stockinette  stitch. I have an old book of knitting patterns, so I decided the best way to learn a new stitch was to make a sampler. This is how it turned out, different yarns, different patterns. Who knew cables are pretty darn easy? Having been a sticther for years, it took me awhile to "get" knitting. What's with this: ssk, ptog,yo,skp, sssk? Why not writing it out in words? Sometimes I come across a direction and I'm pulling out all the knitting books to find out what the heck it means. Because I've been sewing for so long, I can pretty much look at what I'm making and know how to get the piece to the finished stage. A vest? No problem. Skirt or pants? No problem. Reading a knitting pattern, WTF? So I had to train my brain not to see the end, but to read along, knitting just what the direction said, and the piece would come out fine. Learning a new(useful) craft was fun.

PS: the cats love to snuggle in my knitted blankets

GOT BETTER, WENT SHOPPING

Thanks for all the "get wells". I did and for the first time since New Years break, I went shopping.
This is the 3rd dress from a company called Tianna B. that I've found second hand. I know nothing about the company and as far as I know, I've never run across them new.  The label says "Made in USA" so that's something.

Maybe from the 80's.  It  has shoulder pads, which I'll probably take out.

The print is sweet and I like the little tie front

Ready for the next luau.  Made in Hawaii muu muu. It's hard to see the ruffle at the bottom
The print is wonderful. It also says "Aloha" Cotton blend fabric, so I don't think it's really old

I love buying vintage patterns(when they're cheap). Who know cargo pants were popular in the 1950's? Jacket not included.
Ok, I did my bit. The Girl Scout was wearing a pink tutu, how could I not stop and buy some?

My fingers are crossed that I stay health for the rest of the year. Thanks again for all the support. Love you all more than puppy dogs and candy bars.

I'VE BEEN A BAD BLOGGER

Well. not really. I've been sick again and missed 2 days of work. I'm feeling better, but haven't felt like posing for photos. Here's a few from the past couple of months that for some reason never got posted
With Parrish Morgan, star of The Would-Be Gentlemen. I'm wearing one of the 2 pieces of gray clothing that I own.

My pet peacock. And snake bone earrings.
At least I made the bed, sort of.
Until next time!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 33

Yesterday was Fat Tuesday, the end of Mardi Gras. So here are the King and Queen
The King and Queen of Mardi Gras are Kimcraft dolls. They still have the original price tags that say "$6.25"
Both have the same detail on their capes. They're both a little shabby, but so is New Orleans.

 BORING WEEK AT WORK

Some photos that have been floating around my laptop. Huge bougainvillea growing up the side of an apartment building in Athens.
Dress made out of tar paper and nails. The hat is made form chicken wire. Atlanta airport International concourse

Last June on a beautiful, clear day, half of our pecan tree broke off. It missed the building next door and no cars where parked in the lot....thanks goodness.

A good up-cycle of campaign  signs. Atlanta airport

No martini's on the boat ramp! Stick to beer. Thank you, South Carolina

You know you live in the South when........yep, that's a dog sitting on top of the pick up truck.

Why you should keep broken jewelry.
It was boring at work last week because all there was to do was hemming, alterations and laundry. Sometimes "show biz" isn't exciting. But, the next show is gearing up, it's Pippin, so who knows what kinds of crazy stuff we'll be making for that?
