WINTER BREAK 2018
One of the best things about working at a university is getting almost 3 weeks off for Winter Break ( AKA Christmas) We went to visit family in California.
We flew out of Jacksonville, Fla. Santa and his dolphins.
I've never seen a beauty vending machine before. I didn't need a hairdryer.
Early Christmas with The Doctor, my Niece and her family. Her son turned 3 at the start of December.
My sister-in-law and I both love doing jigsaw puzzles. We did 2.
Christmas tree full of elves and birds.
Because the vacation was the gift, the Christmas gifts were few. Who doesn't need a new to me vintage suitcase? Made a great carry on. And it was $7.99. The Doctor is getting a new car!
The green mohair knit is a huge shawl/wrap original from H & M, thrifted price: $2. We went on an afternoon walk around the Rosie the Riveter/ Kaiser Shipyards sight in Richmond.
The Golden Gate Bridge.
Oakland. The last two photos are from my brother-in-law.

Here's what the shipyards look like now. Condos and parks. It's hard to believe this whole area was where the Liberty ships that won WW2 where built.

The Rosie The Riveter memorial. It's the #12 in the above photo. It's interesting to read the statements from the real woman who where the riveters. They had 24 hour daycare, full health care and everyone, regardless of race or gender, got hired. Too bad things aren't the same now. But I guess during a war, all hands on deck.
This is the old Ford plant, #14 in the photo. During the war it turned out 49,000 jeeps and 100,000 of vehicles ; tanks, halftracks ect. It's a beautiful building that is now used for events. The afternoon we where there a huge New Year's Eve party was being set up.
That looked and sounded like a fun trip! Your finds were fantastic, love the suitcase! xxx
