WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 323                                                                                                                                                The other week, a friend asked if anybody had old dolls they didn't want. Hmm, let me think....yes I had a couple I was going to donate. Sent them to Chris instead. Here's what he did with one of them.

 Here it is, plied up neat and tidy. We're so lucky (and happy) that the bricks came down 1-2 at a time. This hitting the roof would have been a true nightmare and would have cost more then $500 to repair. Thank you, homeowner's insurance. The fire place this was attacked to sits between our bedroom and dining room.

 I moved all the broken bricks to the front yard.

And we now have  sweet brick edging.

WE DODGED A BULLET                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        We're fine. All we got was the outer eastside of the hurricane. The power flickered off and on around 7pm, but stayed on. The wind gust started about 10pm. That caused the cap on one of the chimneys to blow off and wrap around a smaller chimney. The noise that made was awful, coupled with the bricks blowing unto the roof, rolling down and off to the ground. It sounded like a monster was jumping up and down. Thank goodness it didn't last long. By midnight, it was over. Wanting to live somewhere where the weather isn't trying to kill me isn't asking too much, is it?

Here's Dany from season 3, I think. Oh, Game of Thrones, duh.  We're sitting around waiting for yet another hurricane. Shh, don't say "climate change", in the past 10 years there sure have been an up tick in how many are going over my area. The university is closed today and tomorrow all staff and faculty report back to work....who are they kidding? The director of FEMA said Southwest Georgia could have a power outage for 2 or 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, can't sew in the dark. I'll keep you posted when I can.

As of 11:15am est, usa, no wind or rain. We should get the brunt of this in the evening/overnight. Yeah, no sleep of me.

Rory was an awesome companion.  I've been a Dr. Who fan since the mid-80's (Hello, Tom Baker) so I'm really looking forward to the new female Doctor! Which I think starts in the next couple of weeks.

A SHOW POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHAT!!!!!!!!

I know it's been awhile since I posted about a show. Our first one this year was called Hands on a Hardbody. The hardbody being a pick-up trunk that a dealership in Texas was giving away to the winner of a contest. The last person standing with their hand on the truck wins. It's based on a true event.                                                                                                                            

 Our talented student cast, a mix of freshmen and upper-classmen. male and female, Black and White.                                                                                                                                              

 The men: Terrance D. Searcy (Ronald), Brandon Chandler (Greg), Mark Sheme (Benny), Aaron Thomas Moore (JD), Daniel Lennox, Jr. (Chris), Melvin Galloway (Jesus), James Bohler Rowell, IV(Don, husband to Janis) and Savannah Kern (Virginia, wife of JD)                                                                                                                          

 The women: Diana McCasland (Heather), Taylor Gay (Kelli), Savannah Kennedy (Janis) and Liz Perez (Norma)

 The last 3! Norma, JD and Benny. No spoilers!

 Oh, no! The last 2! Norma getting some much needed support from Ronald and Chris.   In this photo you can see the casters the truck was on so it could be spun around the stage. And the cover over the bed so the actors could jump on the truck. Yes, it's a really full size pick-up truck. The engine, transmission and gas tank were removed. The tires are real and the headlights work.

 Yep, our building has a loading dock, but it's not attached to the scene shop. Getting a full size truck into the building took about 3 hours. The 3 sets of doors had to be removed, the mirrors had to come off and the back bumper was removed. All the scene shop students can now put "auto body work" on their resumes.

After the strike, the truck was given to someone who towed it away for free. They wanted the body.

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 314                                                                                                                                                 I'm back! Since last Wednesday, 3 more grads have come to visit! Our students must have had an awesome experience with us. We can't seem to get rib of them!

      

Here's a little Russian doll and a wooden St. Basil church. She has a pretty hand painted face. No idea what the letters spell. Any guess?

Ga Ga was pretty good in the role. The next American Horror Story is returning in September, and yes, Jessica Lange is back!
