WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 231

Is this tiny guy a Swiss Guard?

Looks high or really, really sleepy.

YESTERDAY WAS ROUGH

First off, we're fine and our area seems to not have had damage. There were 8 tornadoes that wrecked havoc in South Georgia. The first one hit around 3am. It did this:

This was the Sunny Acres mobile home park. 11 people died. This storm was not playing. At last count 19 people were killed. Including a friend's 2 family members.

Here are a couple more photos. All taken by Kristin Patten. The photos are from the local newspaper's website.

As I said we're both fine and there's no damage to our house. It looks like it could have been worse. At one point, right at the end of the storm, the wind started to whistle. Not howl, but whistle. That was a weird sound to hear. And it was strange that our power didn't go out. Weird, right?

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 230

The Game of Thrones withdrawals continue. I've been re-reading  the  books from last to first. Oh, heck, why  not?  Please finish The Winds of Winter. Thank you.

Arya says "Stick him with the pointy end"

Not much going on in my exciting life right now. Work, home repeat.

And after Winter Weekend, it's freaky warm. At least our heating bill will be small this winter.

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 229

Boo Hoo, no Golden Globes for Game of Thrones this year. Here's Littlefinger to cheer you up. (or creep you out)

It looks like all our students came back for Spring semester. It's the first week of classes, that mean auditions for the 2 spring shows (the children's tour was already cast). Break legs!

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VACATION?

Dang, been home for a week already. Time flies. Because we were traveling "light", we didn't buy a lot of stuff. It's bad enough the airlines charge $25 to check in a bag, I didn't want to go over 50-pounds and have to pay more.

Found these sweet vintage gloves at an estate sale across the street from my family's house. They were $1. The stone is a garnet, and was also a $1 at a shop in Half Moon Bay.

Cute dish towels my sister-in-law made. The Doctor got some micro brewed beer and his trekking sticks.

Here's his present to me:

 With a flash.................................

 In the sunshine.........................

Yes, it's a gold glitter skull snow globe.

There was a pile of Christmas cards waiting when we got home, one was special.

In the card from Hollie Black Ramsey was this lovely piece of art from her children. What a nice surprise.

Tonight is going to be pretty bad weather wise; below freezing temps, snow and who knows what else.  Take care and keep warm.

Mini Javert from Les Miserables?

"Excuse me sir. But aren't you Jean Valjean?"

MORE VACATION PHOTOS? WHY NOT!

It was so much fun to spend 3 days with my niece and her son. On the Thursday before Christmas, we had a family get together with The Doctor's brother's family. 10 people in a tiny living room, cozy.

On Friday,  Christie's husband, Ray joined us. We had early presents. Yossi is only a year old, so it was technically his second Christmas.

 Grandpa and Grandma Ravera.

On Christmas Eve the whole neighborhood is a wash with candles. This has been growing year by year.

Random work of art. An alley in Cairo, Egypt painted by my mother-in-law from a photo she took.

My sister-in-law and I share a love of jigsaw puzzles. So does Mario.

Wednesday after Christmas, we took BART to Castro Valley to have a sleep over with Neil and Elissa. This time we sat the whole way. The next day we had a day trip to Half Moon Bay. Beach trip in December? Yep. Turned out the be the warmest day of the trip, 68 and sunny.

The Doctor and his new trekking sticks. They fold up and fit in the suitcase.

Rainbow surf! Half Moon Bay is about 25-30 miles south of San Francisco and is shaped in a crescent. When I was a kid, back in the early 60's it was a fishing village. Now it's $$$. There are some fun places to shop and lots of cute B&Bs.

We had lunch here.

But inside sitting had over an hour wait. Remember my weather report? 68 and sunny?

Take out window and picnic tables. Maybe a 20 minute wait. We had fish, of course and it was amazing.

After that I was taken on a forced march up a mountain. Ok, it was a hill.

Mavericks is a big wave surf spot. The biggest waves outside of Hawaii. Not that day.

After the hike. Yes, I hike in cashmere. Mavericks is behind The Doctor's head. There was a couple of surfers in the waves over my right shoulder. Guessing that the surfers are 6-feet tall and the wave was twice their height....12 foot face. Not big enough for the contest.

The next day, Neil and Elissa took me for a farewell lunch. We went to Oakland.

Here, Chalita Linda on Telegraph Ave.

Taco. One fish, one chicken, blackberry/lime aqua frecsa. Yummy.

All the trash cans where decorated with skulls.

We had an awesome time. Now back to work today.

Everyone have a Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
