WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 85

I think this is a Russian doll. If it is, this is a tribute to Sochi 2014!!!!! If not, oh well.

This is another one taken with the old camera. Or, maybe I got better at taking photos?

I have been watching the Olympics. I enjoy snowboarding, figure skating and speed skating. The rest, not so much. Although I do think it's strange to hold a  winter sporting event in a city with palm trees.

About those outfit posts.......well, I've been really busy with work and have been putting most if not all my effort towards getting that show done. And sortenizing ( sorting and organizing) my house for the upcoming listing it for sale. Where did all this crap come from? The car trunk is full of stuff to donate. When we went to the donation drop on Sunday, we were 2 hours early and have yet to find time to go back.

When the shows opens, in a week, I promise to have an interesting post about turning modern suits into Regency (think Jane Austin) costumes. Until then, have a lovely week!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 84

In honor of Spy Girl, the 52 Pick-up Challenge  this week is dots!

I gave this lass the MTW and she added the apron and bracelets. It's her tribute to Exene.

Remember last week? It was 34F and haling? Well, yesterday when I got home from work, I turned on the ceiling fans and opened the kitchen window.....it was 82F!!!!!!!!!! Someone is playing tricks on us.

2 LINK-UPS AND A SHOW

First link-up: Style Crone's Hat Attack!!!!!

Cthulhu hat made by my friend Kristina. If I wear this when it's windy, the wings flap. Cthulhu is a monster from the books written by H. P. Lovercraft. Yeah, another bathroom selfie, this time of the year it's the only room with decent light

Link-up #2: Share-in-Style: Gothic

One of the few photos of me not smiling.

And the show: Every year we do a children's tour. This year it's called "Eventually, Ever After", a ballet based on fairy tales.

Here's Cinderella (Elly), The Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Little Red, and the Big Bad Wolf. The show was written and choreographed by one of our dance faculty, Sarah Wildes Arnett, she also took this photo. The costume were designed by my student assistant( and fake grandson) Matty Hogan. This is his first design project. He's also stage manager for the tour.

I made Elly's dress and the White Rabbit's Hammer pants. The show is a re-telling  of popular fairy stories set in modern times. The cast also includes the wicked Stepsisters and Hansel and Gretel.

Short sleeve t: roca wear from TJMaxx. Long sleeve one: Jones New York $15 at Dillards.

The summer mode for the short sleeve one.

Go join the fun and link up with Spy Girl!

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 83

Last Wednesday, taxonomyofmywardrobe.blogspot.com had a sweet shout out to weird doll Wednesday.  She had a lovely post about Raggedy Ann and Andy.  Check it out.

There's a homemade, knitted version of Raggedy Ann. Can't remember where I found her. When I find weird dolls I leave them as found. I don't fix the messed up clothes or clean them up. Somehow the more pitiful they look, the more loveable they are... at least to me.

Here in South Georgia, it's icy cold and raining this morning. We were spared the Nightmare on Peach Tree Street, AKA Atlanta. What a nightmare that is! I have friends that were stuck on the interstate for HOURS!!!!!!!!!! One is 8-months pregnant(she got home fine) The schools down here closed yesterday, no snow for us. And work today, as the university is closed until tomorrow.  Which wouldn't be a big deal, if we didn't have a show opening on Friday.

Stay warm and dry!

GREETINGS FORM THE FROZEN NORTH............

I mean "SOUTH"

It's cold again down in South Georgia. In the mid 20's overnight. Stop laughing at me, People of Canada and Northern Europe. We are not used to cold here, heck, next week it'll probably be in the 70's.

Here's what I'm wearing indoors.

Blue mohair cardigan, long black dress with a swirl design, tall boots and tights. Everything was thrifted or a gifted (the boots). Heck a lot of things in the photo where second hand: the rug, curtains and jewelry box (behind me) The lamp was from Target, duvet cover was on sale at Anthropology, and the little  chest is from IKEA.

Here's a better shot of my outfit. The swirl design has about 4 different colors so it's easy to wear a matching sweater or jacket. When it's really cold, I tend to only wear earrings. Bracelets and necklaces make me cold, rings are kind of hard to wear with gloves. The poster behind me is from the 90's and it was fun to see the look on the framers face when I took it to get framed. Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.....yeah!!!!!

More second hand in this photo: bookcase, from a lot at an auction, the green shutters (which are hiding a water) second hand store and they were already painted that color.

Speaking of the cold.............

not a big fan. What I'll be wearing the walk the 3 blocks to work. All this is thrifted, too. My $10 Jones New York wool overcoat, white mohair shawl( bought at a stuff a bag for $5 rummage sale) Russian hat (also from a rummage sale) my sister in law gave me the gloves for Christmas years ago.

                      STAY WARM

WEIRD DOLL WEDNESDAY, PART 82

Let's pretend it's summer!

How cute is she? I'm loving the little pineapple on her shoulder.

We're having another cold snap and I forgot to cover the outside plants last night. Oops! Maybe they didn't all freeze.

I've been crazy busy this semester (today is only day 7).  We've been working on three shows at once, that all open before the end of the month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometime the schedule gets a little out of control. But that's show biz for ya.

All the shows have been cast, the drama ran hot and heavy on Friday. It always does. After we open the scholarship fund raiser ballet, the opera and the children's tour,  we move on to Arcadia and Evita. Arcadia is set in England in 1809 and 2009. And Evita is Argentina 1930-1950. So, I'll be a little busy for the next couple of months. I sort of made a New years resolution to post more outfits, and you can see how well that's going. I wear clothes everyday, it true!

We also met with our realtor about listing our house. The Doctor is retiring at the end of June and we want to move back home, AKA California. That's going to be nerve wrecking. Wish us luck.

Enjoy your day
