I heard from a bunch of friends who live in NYC, and all of them are fine.. Sweater and skirt: thrifted

The living room has a 14-foot ceiling. When we bought the house, the ceiling was just above the window top. Sometime in the 1970's an ugly lowered ceiling was put in, ya know ,to "save energy".  We got the ceiling taken down in June, added a ceiling fan, and our July A/C bill was $100 lower than June. Gotta love the '70s! The paint color is periwinkle, but when the painters got paint to match, the store called it "Hannah Montana Purple" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Holy cow! It's the Infant of Prague collection! And that's one of four, yes 4, fireplaces in my house. (They don't work, but what the heck)

Today's jewelry collage: The 2 necklaces are from a 10 pound grab bag on -line auction, which I think cost $80(for 10 pounds!) The one one the left is from a store called Chico's and the other one is vintage YSL. The Day of the Dead earring and Ganesha bracelet are from Marlene, the little owls are Betsey Johnson, the other bracelets are from who knows where. Enjoy your weekend, I'll be at work tomorrow making some more awesomeness.

Yesterday's jewelry: The green disk is wood. I made the seed bead necklace. The necklace on the left is from World Market and the earrings on the right are too, maybe.The silver cuff is from Fire Mt. Gems and everything else is from friends. I was wearing a dress I've wore about 5 times, so who wants to see that again? Not me.

 NO NEW SHOES FOR ME.....

But I got Ray (AKA, The Doctor) these sweet leather Converse. Original price $125, marked down to $89, half price sticker, plus $10 off coupon......$37.

And I got this free tote bag. Thank you, DSW

Got some more books. The Scandinavian one is from 1960 and I swear the fist line is "Not very long ago Scandinavia was of little interest to Americans" You're welcome. The knitting book is from 1953, there's a couple of cute patterns I may have to made this winter. And with 750,000 copies sold, somewhere somebody has stuff made from this book just waiting for a yard sale. Jo Nesbo, because he's awesome.

The Road Warrior was on TV last night. Here's a photo of Mel. The movie is 31 years old. Dang, I saw it when it first came out, talk about feeling old. Hope everybody had a fun weekend, I worked today......awe show biz.

 $100 DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who would pay $100 for this dress? Nobody, which is why I bought it last winter for  $19.95.

It's a nice dress , but get real.

Today's bling. I made the necklace from recycled beads and an earring I found in the street. The Doctor calls found jewelry "parking lot jewelry", we always seem to find it in parking lots. The postman just dropped off the tripod I ordered. Wish me luck on my self-photos improving. Have a relaxing, fun filled weekend everybody!

Partice and I talked him into taking the costume lab next semester. One of these days the ceiling will be put back up in the hallways.

Close up of the jewelry I was wearing. It's lapis and carnelian and is Afghan. I've had it forever and can't remember where I bought it.

 What I was wearing is things I found when I did the Big Closet Clean Out of 2012. The skirt is from Lane Bryant, top is Adrienne Vittadini bought on sale from DIllard's, the sweater was thrifted. What I'm holding is a Hello Kitty tot bag I use as a lunch bag, $1 from Target. It was Wednesday and my assistants and I have a picnic for lunch out under the trees. Rebecca came by and took 2 shopping bags of clothes from the clean out. So, I have 3 bags to donate. We're moving right along on the next show. I've been taking photos of one of the costumes from drawing to finished and will be posting those when the show opens. I thought it would be interesting to see what goes into making a period costume.

PS: I can't believe I have 14 followers. Thank you! By the way,  I've been looking for a skirt to do a post showing how to turn a skirt into a top. No luck so far. The skirt has to have a lot of fabric and on Monday I couldn't find anything. I'll keep looking and hopefully it won't take too long to find something.

 WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING

Sorting through this mound of clothes! Thursday night I piled all my clothes, minus pants and underwear in my sewing room.

I had a helper.......

or two. 

What was leftover: 2 bags for the thrift store and free to my assistants. #1 came by this afternoon and took 2 tops, 3 coats and a purse. #2 might be coming by on Wed.

All hung up, hm......looks like there's some room!

After all that hard work, I had to get a present! Dollar make-up! I've never used liquid liner, I have a shaky hand, so pencils are my friend.

And I still have 2 more days of fall break.
